Mother took cocaine before crashing into double-decker bus with her son, one, in the passenger seat
A mother took cocaine before crashing into a double-decker bus, killing her and her one-year-old son who was sat in the passenger seat.
Sian Goffin, 31, who had taken cocaine, suffered fatal injuries in the collision in Mullion, Cornwall, in October last year.
Her son, Jago Bawden, was also fatally injured and died three days later in Bristol Children's Hospital, Cornwall Coroner's Court heard.
The crash also injured 27 children who were travelling to school.
Post-mortem examinations found Ms Goffin and her son, who were from Mullion, had both died from traumatic brain injuries.
In a written ruling, Assistant Coroner Guy Davies said: 'Sian Goffin died at Derriford Hospital on October 16 from injuries sustained when the car that Sian was driving collided with a double decker bus on October 14.
'The collision took place on B3296, Meaver Road, Mullion.
'The reason for the collision was because Sian lost control of her car whilst under the influence of a controlled drug, namely cocaine.'
Twenty seven children on the school bus sustained minor injuries and one child from the bus sustained serious injuries
Referring to her son, Mr Davies said: 'Jago Bawden died from injuries sustained when the car in which Jago was a passenger collided with a double decker bus.
'The reason for the collision was because of driver error by the driver of the car in which Jago was a passenger.'
Mr Davies recorded a conclusion of road traffic collision.
Friends and family previously paid tribute to mum-of-two Sian with one posting: 'It's with a heavy heart that I have to tell you all that Sian Goffin has passed away following the horrific accident on Monday morning.
'She will be very much missed by all of us who loved her. Sleep tight sweetpea, and I will see you on the other side.'
Relative Shannon Goffin added: 'I honestly cannot believe I'm having to write this... but it's with heavy hearts to let you know that sadly Sian Goffin has grown her wings and has passed away.
'It's such a shock to us as a family, I would really appreciate it if you could all respect our privacy with dealing with the loss of Sian so soon after losing mum/normal nanny.
'To a loving Daughter, Sister, Mummy, Niece and Cousin. We love you and will forever miss you
Toni-Rose, paid tribute to her 'best friend' Sian adding: 'It's been a devastating last few days, but now you're finally at peace.
'To my best friend and partner in crime. I love you beyond words and more than you'll ever know. 31 years old is no age but my angel you have grown your wings and you are with your mum now.
'I am honoured to have spent the time we have together, I will treasure them forever and your babies. You were loyal, loving, funny, grumpy & whiny but no one would want you any other way!'
Devon and Cornwall Police said they were called to the B3296 Meaver Road at around 8.40am on Monday 14 October to reports of a crash involving a silver Vauxhall Astra and a double decker school bus.
Sergeant Phil Brown from the Serious Collisions Investigation Team said at the time: 'We are deeply saddened that a woman and child have now died following the collision in Mullion.
'It is impossible to put into words the grief those close to them are feeling right now.
'Our thoughts continue to be with everybody involved as we continue to work with the school and partners to make sure everybody receives the support they require following this tragic collision.'
